His biggest dream was to create an insurance broker. Not even 23 years old, he was among the few specialists with a diploma in the field of insurance in Romania, he had finished finance-insurance in Iași, and among his dreams of becoming his own insurance broker were to stay for another 7 years of entrepreneurial trials and the amount of 25,000 lei (approximately 14,000 euros, per
the time when the euro was 1.78 lei, in 1999).

  • It is important not to go in the direction of the market, and create your niche
  • Don’t chase immediate gains, but build for the long term
  • You have to be innovative, anchored in the realities of the international and local market
  • Not all people can be entrepreneurs, there must also be a spark that comes from within
  • In the relationship with the team, create a relaxed atmosphere but be careful about the exact division of tasks
  • New hires should be allowed to settle into the company so they can figure out exactly what they want to specialize in, even if they originally came for a specific position
  • It is important to understand the particularities of the customer and to create long-term relationships. “The client notices the fairness on our part. If he is happy, he will bring recommendations”.
  • Be prepared to sometimes earn less than your employees

 

Where is the Romanian insurance market heading

When Răzvan started in insurance, there wasn’t even half of what we have today. He estimates that the trend in the insurance market is on health insurance, both individual and group, cyber insurance – being a new risk that has appeared in the market in recent years – and, with the evolution of technology and the automation of processes, there will be niches to speculate on for certain players and on the insurance side. Technology changes, so do the risks. He understood that he could use technology to explore new markets and new opportunities and integrated it into his company’s services to bring value to new types of customers.
